AirNest: Revolutionizing Outdoor Camping with a Splash of Comfort

The Rise Outdoor AirNest, a product of Todd Lawson’s five-year effort, combines comfort, convenience, and fun in a unique inflatable tent. It promises an easy setup, a built-in mattress, and the ability to float on water. Targeted towards relaxed campers, it's a touch heavy but offers a blend of features that make camping a breeze. Currently, it's up for funding on Kickstarter.

For many, the thought of setting up a camp might throw a wet blanket on their outdoor plans. But thanks to Todd Lawson, a seasoned outdoorsman, that excuse is now dead in its tracks. Lawson spent half a decade to devise a solution and the result is the Rise Outdoor AirNest, an inflatable tent that effortlessly blends fun, functionality, and a dash of eccentricity. This innovative camping gear just made its debut on Kickstarter this week.

The AirNest, emerging from the untouched wilderness of Whistler, British Columbia, promises an easy setup. All you need is the provided AirBank pump, and within two minutes, your shelter is ready. But that's just the beginning of its appeal. The AirNest also addresses another common camping grouse - the discomfort of sleeping on the rough ground or a thin pad. It features an integrated, removable wall-to-wall mattress which inflates through a separate valve, ready for a comfortable sleep the moment the tent is erected.

Another unique feature of this inflatable dwelling is its buoyancy. Yes, you can float on water with it, offering a refreshing respite from the blazing sun. Of course, it's not the only floating tent in the market - the GP-tested Space Acacia is another example - but it undoubtedly brings a fresh breath of air to the table.

However, the fun on the water should be limited to calm lake and pond waters, and definitely not overnight, as pointed out on the Kickstarter page. Besides these, the AirNest also offers a zip-on/off vestibule, internal gear storage pockets, and several durability-oriented features, including fully taped seams, waterproof 50D polyester construction, 210D Dacron-wrapped Airframes, and a 420D ripstop nylon underbelly to guard against any accidental placement on sharp objects.

The AirNest is designed to sleep three adults or two adults and two small children, with a total interior area of 42.5 square feet, which expands to 82.06 feet with the vestibule. While it may not suit ultralight thru-hiking enthusiasts, it's perfect for relaxed car campers, road trippers, and overlanders. Pack it all into a backpack/duffel with compression straps, but keep in mind it's a bit heavy, weighing a total of 25.66 pounds.

The Rise Outdoor AirNest is currently available for funding on Kickstarter, with a starting pledge of $862 for a single unit. The estimated delivery is in May 2025. If you're intrigued to learn more about innovative outdoor gear, visit The Adventure Collective.
